Radiofrequency heat

The device today
Thermosurgery Technologies, Inc., in Phoenix, Arizona, manufactures ThermoMed™. Their site describes a portable, hand-held, non-surgical device for topical skin diseases such as cutaneous leishmaniasis and basal cell carcinoma.
They state that the device has FDA market approval, and they publish a longer list of conditions on their treatments page. This project does not add to that list.
Their technology page says the device delivers localized radiofrequency to a small area of tissue. Heat is generated in that tissue. They say the unit monitors the heated tissue inside a narrow temperature range.
They say abnormal cells do not tolerate that heat and die, while surrounding healthy cells are minimally affected because the temperature stays in a tolerable range. They also say the immune response takes part in healing the treated area.
That account is theirs. The history of hyperthermia they summarize, and the research list they offer, are on their technology page and their research page.
